This stunning Edwardian property is owned by Rachael and Martin who wanted to remodel their existing ground floor to create a more functional and social kitchen space appropriate for the scale and stature of the house. They employed us to design a unique solution that would enhance their home and how they enjoy living in it.
The existing galley kitchen was located in a lean-to extension and was just not large enough to accommodate their family and friends. The access to the garden was at the rear of the house, but the main lawn and patio is to the side of the property and so part of our goal was to reorientate the access onto the main garden area and create a private courtyard to the rear – ideal for their dogs, storage and access into the private studio/gym.
The raised ground floor presented a unique opportunity to create a step within the house down into the new kitchen thus making access into the outside spaces easier. The former kitchen has been turned into a stunning library space with a window seat overlooking the rear courtyard. And we have created a cosy snug area just off the kitchen, so the whole family can enjoy the space with great views over their garden and beyond. The interior is a perfect blend of contemporary and traditional pieces.
Rachael and Martin are thrilled with how their new home looks and works for them – Kimble Roden have added value to their home and enjoyment.
