Our client engaged us to remodel and extend his cottage sitting within the green belt just outside Wilmslow. The existing house was in need of updating and the flow of the house did not work – with a series of small rooms upstairs, an oversized lounge at ground floor, cramped staircase and a poorly built conservatory to the rear.
One of our major goals for this project was to make the most of the extraordinary views to the rear – with rolling fields to the fore ground and amazing views of the peak district beyond.
By reorganising the space upstairs and extending at first floor we have created 2 double bedrooms and a master suite with external balcony and stunning bathroom. We also installed internal insulation to the walls and roof space to improve the thermal properties of the house.
At ground floor the main living space is open plan from the hallway, but then a further lounge and study have been created to the front of house by dividing the existing large lounge, thus giving plenty of flexible living accommodation. There is also a good-size utility room.
The rear of the house, at ground and first floor, has full height glazing framing the fantastic scenery. As you walk through the front door the impact is incredible – Kimble Roden are extremely proud of this transformation.
