Architectural Trends 2023

Architectural Trends 2023

Our latest blog showcases a collection of architectural design trends for 2023. These trends feature some innovative space saving ideas, great ways to add an extra dimension to your home, creating drama and moody interiors, as well as practical ways of aiding the function of interior spaces.

So, here are some of our favourite architectural trends for 2023…

1. Hidden Drink Making Station

KR Project - Concealed Bar
KR Project - Hidden Coffee Station

Who doesn’t love coffee or hot chocolate?

This innovative space saving idea works really well when space is at a premium and even when it isn’t. It provides a tidy and efficient way of having your own ‘barista station’ or just the kettle and toaster conveniently stored behind closed doors. This is the perfect way to keep your worktops nice and tidy and is designed perfectly to fit modern lifestyles.

The question is, will it be a latte or an americano?

2. Kitchen Window Splash-back

We know what you are thinking... and YES it is a real window!

Frame your view with this exciting and rare splash-back idea.

This can be achieved by placing a slot window at the back of your kitchen worktop, providing you with an ever changing splashback scene.

With careful planning and coordination with the kitchen designer this seamless connection to your outside space will create the wow factor which changes with each season.

It can transform the look of long wall areas or breakfast bar spaces and can add a new dimension to your kitchen space.

If you don't happen to have a view as incredible as @bronteczauderna then why not create a green living wall behind this window for a similar effect.

3. Large Textured Walls

KR Project - Textured Stone Wall
KR Project - Venetian Plastered Wall

A stunning design trend where drama can be created, providing an exciting dimension to large interior walls. Utilising textured walls creates the ultimate wow-factor and transforms any interior space. Even better - this architectural trend can be completely tailored to suit your home and the vibe you’re looking to achieve.

4. Moody Interiors

KR Project - Moody Man-Cave
KR Project - Moody Lounge

Creating mood in interior spaces can bring a new dimension to your home. With intelligent lighting and design, the mood can be changed to suit your personal tastes, day or night.

Utilising shapes, vaulted ceilings, lighting design, colour schemes and soft furnishings, it’s possible to create stunning interior spaces that can quite literally transform the look of a room.

5. Second Prep Kitchen

KR Project - Open Prep Kitchen and Utility
KR Project - Galley Prep Kitchen

This is a popular request amongst our clients. A second prep kitchen offers an incredibly convenient and orderly way to manage your kitchen and cooking space. Offering convenience and a sense of order, a second prep kitchen not only provides additional storage space but it gives a practical area to prep meals without compromising the main kitchen area.

This architectural trend is proving increasingly popular for growing families who are looking for ways to add a sense of order to the heart of the home - the kitchen. With the continued popularity of open plan kitchen spaces, a prep kitchen gives the opportunity to have a unseen working space.

6. Diffused Light Details

This is definitely an eye catcher and one of our favourite architectural trends for 2023. Play with glowing finishes and tinted transparency for an intriguing effect in your home. Adding lighting behind textured glass gently illuminates the surface with a surreal glow. Additionally play with colour and textures to reflect, distort and diffuse the light to create a unique and inviting ambiance.

During a recent CPD with SieMatic, we discovered their new Mondial range which effectively incorporates this 2023 trend as seen in the images above.
